PROJECT Announced
Lambda announced on November 4, 2026 that it plans to build the Red Clay Technology Center Campus in Lowndes County, near U.S. 80 and Alabama 21, on a 2,200-acre site readied for development by Cloverleaf Infrastructure. Lambda puts the investment at an estimated $33.1 billion; the county's information packet gives a base capacity of 1,000 MW. Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027 and take up to five years, with more than 1,000 construction jobs and more than 225 full-time roles in operations, technical and support work. Alabama Power will supply power, pending regulatory approval; Lambda says it will pay the full cost of the power and grid infrastructure. The county approved Cloverleaf's development agreements and a 20-year partial tax abatement in October 2026; a lawsuit filed November 3 asks a court to void those votes. Builders are not named.
